Big Wata has won the Viewer’s Choice at the London Surf Film Festival and the award for best surf film in Byron Bay!
That’s true recognition for making a film. Unfortunately we couldn’t be there to collect the prizes ourselves, but we do want to use this moment to appreciate all the people who made Big Wata happen!
It feels so good and we are so grateful that all the hard work get’s rewarded. When winning prizes it’s always good to allow yourself a moment to think of the process and how things came together. Making Big Wata has been a long journey with the natural ups and downs. That’s why we do want to emphasise once more that without the great team of contributors in the Netherlands, but especially the characters in the film and the people of Bureh Town and Robertsport this would not have been such a beautiful project.
We are extremely thankful to all you wonderful souls in West Africa! These awards are for you! Tenki boku London audience and tenki boku Byron Bay International Film Festival and London Surf Film Festival for selecting us. And tenki Bureh Town and Robertsport.
Next step for 2019 would be that Big Wata will support the surf clubs in Bureh Town and Robertsport. How cool would it be if all our fans could help making more kids surf?
